"Stop the Bleed" is an educational campaign developed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma to teach lay people how to control severe bleeding until professional help arrives.
The program, launched in response to tragedies like the Sandy Hook shooting, seeks to empower people with lifesaving skills in emergency situations. The ACS Committee on Trauma administers the program and offers training courses in hemorrhage control for both the general public and healthcare professionals.
Caring for patients in an out-of-hospital setting is complex and challenging. A wide range of medical skills and knowledge are required to save lives, relieve pain, and treat patients of all ages. NAEMT courses provide high-quality, evidence-based education that is critically important for preparing EMS professionals to successfully treat patients in all types of circumstances and address the numerous challenges of working in the field.
